Two by Two is Rami's new, fun way to showcase her award-winning pieces. Whenever Rami creates an art-to-wear ensemble, she makes matching quilts, bags, and dolls with the same designs and techniques. Over the years, she developed so many matching pairs that she wishes to share these fun and beautiful sets, and to talk about how the same techniques and designs can be incorporated into different projects as wearable arts, quilts, dolls and bags.

Rami Kim is a DNA scientist-turned fabric artist/quilter/instructor known nationally and internationally. She is a 19-time Best of Show winner, distinguished for her innovative art-to-wear.

Her passion is in contemporary art-to-wear, quilts, cloth dolls and bags with special interest in 3-dimensional textures and she is known for her own distinctive colors and techniques.

She graduated from Seoul National University majoring in Chemistry and University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) majoring in endocrinology and worked at the Cancer Research Institute at UCSF before her passion and talent in fabric art drastically changed this biochemist's career years ago.

She says she'd rather spend even more time with beautiful fabrics and threads and beads than with DNA sequencing gels and radioactive isotopes of cold, gray science.

Whether you want to do your own 100 Day Project, or just hear about someone else's journey, join us on Zoom to hear Quilter, Artist and Educator Sarah Goer!

Sarah has participated in numerous 100 Day Projects with varying parameters. She will share her process and experience with these projects, including what worked and what didn’t work for her. Sarah will also share tips for how to tailor your 100 Day Project to suit your life and creative journey, even if you don’t think you have time.

Based in San Jose, California, Sarah learned to sew as a child and was drawn to the color and geometry of quilting after college. As a former middle school math teacher, she combines her eleven years of classroom experience with her nearly two decades of quilting experience to bring clear instruction to her quilt students.

In this fast-paced workshop, Sarah will teach a wide variety of improvisational piecing techniques. Discover how fun and easy it is to create these improv elements for use in your existing quilt projects, or as the start of a new project. Each prompt will be introduced and demonstrated; then time will be allowed for making one or more units with each technique.

What Makes a Quilter Tick? A Fun-Filled Look in the Mirror with Dave Sirota

"Join me for a laugh-out-loud and interactive look at ourselves as quilters. We’ll examine the little quirks, passions, idiosyncrasies and obsessions we all share.

We'll hold a mirror up to ourselves and to help us see what others see when they look at us. So, bring your friends and family along and maybe “What Makes a Quilter Tick?” will help explain to you and to them why they look at us the way they do."

Learn Quilt Maven Dave's paper piecing methods and how to deal with lots of pieces of fabric coming together in one place!

"Paper piecing can be a quilter's challenge. There are so many ways to get it wrong, right?

Wrong! I've taken the mystery out of paper piecing by making it easy to do and much faster and efficient. But you'll have to be the judge of that.

The actual "Crossed Canoes" block is quite simple. But the quilt top assembly needs to be precise. This quilt isn't about the paper piecing, since all of the blocks are identical except for color.

The fun part is putting the blocks together. We'll be using a different method for precision where TWELVE pieces of fabric come together into a single point.

So get out your floss and let's go canoeing."

    Interrogating Your Quilt:

Don’t be nice about it – force that fabric to talk to you! Get the real info on how it can work for you to help you achieve your “quilt” vision. This humor-laden lecture focuses on getting the most from your fabric choices and how fabric can (and does) influence the finished quilt! Supported by plenty of quilt examples from my retinue of quilts – good and bad!

Tammy has been quilting since 1991, and designs and self-publishes her own quilt patterns under the label Tamarinis.

Tammy enjoys working with almost any fabric, but her favorites, are batiks, bold prints, and almost any fabric with words on it. Having a background in art and literature, another of her guilty quilty pleasures is finding ways to use “words” in my work, be it in the fabric itself or by adding them to the piece. She is a Georgia native and currently lives in Acworth with my husband, children (when they come to visit!), one grumpy dog, and her favorite fat cat.

Learn more about Tammy Silvers at tamarinis.com, and join us for Tammy's workshop on Tuesday September 24.
